ISSCOM 31 August 2003 (039) Progress-M47: This freighter had been docked to the aft docking port of the Service Module, Zvezda, and had to free this port for the oncoming new freighter Progress-M48. Progress-M47 separated from the ISS on 27.08.03 at 2248UTC and after a short autonomous flight burnt up in the atmosphere over the Pacific on 28.08.03 at 02.37UTC. Progress-M48 was launched from Baykonur on 29.08.03 at 01.47.59UTC for a flight of 2 days to the ISS and docked to the ISS on 31.08.03 at 03.40.45UTC so somewhat earlier than planned. The approach and docking took place under supervision of TsUP-Moscow. The only activity of Malenchenko was a check of the TORU, the system for manual remote control from inside the station. Communications during the sole flight of the Progress-M48. 29.08.03: orb. 3: 06.20.20 - 06.26.00UTC. Strong telemetry signals around 166.134, 166.140 and 165.875 mc. orb. 4: 07.52.10 - 07.58.04UTC. Strong telemetry signals on 166.140 mc (commanded on). LOS around 166.130 mc. orb. 5: 09.27 - 09.30.45UTC Telemetry around 166.130 mc. 30.08.03: orb. 18: 06.38.46 - 06.31.00UTC Telemetry around 166.134mc. (Commanded on.) Both days no monitoring for TCA determinations possible due to strong data signals from a station in the neighbourhood (possible hospital in 1 NM distance) on 922.755mc. Communications during docking operation on 31.08.03: 0328-0336UTC: traffic on 143.625 mc. Short reactions of Malenchenko on instructions from TsUP-Moscow. During the whole pass TORU test signals on 121.750 mc, so approx. 4 minutes until docking (03.40.45UTC). After the docking not much voice traffic. 0502-0512UTC: Malenchenko with TsUP-Moscow. M. confirms all what TsUP says and M. and TsUP speak about a coordination during a next comm. session. All telemetry channels in the 630 mc band switched on. TCA at 05.07.40UTC (630.125 mc). 0638-0648UTC: Malenchenko confirms that he will execute something with an electrical relay. Between 06.46.15 and 06.48.48UTC the telemetry transmitter of Progress-M48 transmits continuously. Progress-M1-10: This freighter will undock from the Pirs docking compartment on 4.09.03 to free this docking port for the Soyuz-TMA3 which must arrive in October this year.
