MIRNEWS.136 3 JULY 1992 PROGRESS-M13: LAUNCHED ON 30 JUNE 1992: At 164314UTC, so 2 seconds later than had been planned, this freighter 'took off' from Baykonur. The ship had to dock to MIR on 2 July 1992 at about 1840UTC. During the flight Pr-M13 transmissions could be heard on 166, 165 and 922.755 mc. DOCKING TO MIR POSTPONED: On 2 July 1992 during pass in orb. 36459, 1832-1840UTC, the MIR crew exchanged data with TsUP, but not about the approach of Pr-M13. They loaded data in the OBC for the attitude control of the complex. Pr-M13 still flew autonomously and could be heard, somewhat earlier than MIR, on the normal frequencies. During the next pass Pr-M13 was still autonomous and the MIR-crew discussed the cause of the problem with TsUP. They spoke about an 'emergency signal S-3' meaning that something had been wrong with the rotation of Pr-M13 around its X-axis (roll). Experts on TsUP are analysing the problem and will carry out the second attempt to dock on 4 July 1992. Chris van den Berg, NL-9165/A-UK3202.
