MIRNEWS.137 4 JULY 1992 PROGRESS-M13: 2D DOCKING-ATTEMPT SUCCESSFUL ON 4 JULY 1992 AT 1707UTC. During the first pass here in orb. 36500, 1648-1653UTC, Pr-M13 was still flying autonomously for she still transmitted on a frequency which has to be quiet during the final approach and after docking. Viktor (Savinykh or Afanasyev) on board of the former trackingship Belyayev tried to get in touch with MIR, but Kaleri asked him to keep quiet for the docking operation was about to begin. Kaleri told TsUP that they did not see Pr-M13, neither visual, nor on their screens. So for abt. 1.5 hour I did not know whether Pr-M13 had been docked or not. During the pass in the next orbit 36501, 1823-1841UTC, the crew reported that the air-seal was perfect. Pr-M13 had been docked to MIR's forward port at 1707UTC. Viktorenko told TsUP that they would open the hatch to Pr-M13 as soon as TsUP ordered them to do so. TsUP did this and the cosmonauts creeped to the hatch and opened it at 1837UTC. During the following pass Kaleri reported the good state of the Pr-M13: all was clean. Crew and TsUP exchanged congratulations and the crew thanked the specialists on TsUP for the excellent achievement and TsUP's care for the crele-D (Kvant-2) and Module-T (Kristall) are docked. On the aft base block's port the astrophysical Module Kvant is dockport (of the spherical transition compartment). To the same compartment, opposite to each other on the side ports Module-D (Kvant-2) and Module-T (Kristall) are docked. On the aft base block's port the astrophysical Module Kvant is docked. To the passive docking port of that module the transportship Soyuz-TM14 is docked. Very soon, i.e. during this month, the configuration will be changed twice: Pr-M13 has to disappear before 26 July 1992 to free the forward axial dockingport for the reception of the Soyuz-TM15 with the relief crew (Solovyov and Avdeyev) and the French guestcosmonaut Tognini. They expect to arrive on board MIR on 28 July 1992. Chris van den Berg, NL-9165/A-UK3202.
