MIRNEWS.176 23 JUNE 1993 2d EVA (spacewalk) MIR-crew: Manakov and Polishchuk executed another EVA on 18 June 1993. They opened the hatch at 1730UTC and concluded their EVA at 2230UTC by closing the hatch behind them. The crew continued work for the replacement of Kristall's solarpanels to Kvant-1. They did not yet replace them, but worked on a cable, which had to be installed on Kvant-1 before the installation there of the solarbatteries during the next EVA. Thusfar it is still unknown when, but certainly not by this crew. Crew and stand-in crew for Soyuz-TM17: They arrived on Baykonur for final training and preparations. During his stay on board the French cosmonaut Jean-Pierre Haignere (or his stand in Claudie Andre-Deshays) will execute the French scientific program Altair. Soyuz-TM17: Launch from Baykonur on 1 July 1993 at 1433UTC, docking to the MIR complex on 3 July 1993 between 1615 and 1620UTC. Just before docking Progress-M17 will undock for decay in the atmosphere. The crew on board the approaching S-TM17 will observe the undocking and further movements of Pr-M17. Soyuz-TM16: On board of this ship the present crew and the French guest will return to earth on 22 July 1993. Their landing in Kazakhstan can be expected between 0625 and 0645UTC. Chris v.d.
