MIRNEWS.102 24 JULY 1991 5th EXTRA VEHICULAR ACTIVITY MIR-CREW: This EVA took place on 23 July 1991 from 0915 to 1502UTC. Again the cosmonauts worked on the Sofora construction. All went smoothly with the exception of some manoeuvring problems during their work. Sometimes they had to correct unexpected turns and the extra restraint needed for correction overburdened their wrists. Artsebarskiy had some problems with the flexibility of his righthand glove. They assured TsUP that nothing was wrong and that they now mastered that 'manoeuvring routines'. Radiotraffic over here took place during passes in orb. 31083, 1300UTC and in orb. 31084, 1435UTC. During the pass in orb. 31084, 1435UTC, the crew was movinghtowards the airlock. For these EVA-s they during their first 2 EVA-s installed a TV-camera on a Kristall Solar Panel. Also during this EVA this camera worked well and during hthe pass in orb. 31085, 1611UTC, they relayed images to TsUP. These images have been made during activities also the minor problems with manoeuvring. 6th EVA: This EVA is still planned for 27 July 1991. Then they intend to conclude the construction of the Sofora platform. HAM TRAFFIC: The crew spoke with TsUP about the planned QSQ with Helen Sharman (probably on 24 July 1991). They spoke about frequencies to be used. Artsebarskiy spoke about 144.625 mc, but Krikalyov said that that frequ. is overcrowded, with data-transmissions, and he advised to use their normal frequ. so possibly the well-known 145.550 mc.
